Just a quick cook to share today. Really this is courtesy of Mr J who came back from a quick trip to the store with two fresh tuna steaks that were on sale.

So with fresh tuna steaks, not a lot of time and just the accidental contents of the fridge, what to do?

Mrs J decided in favour of searing tuna steaks with salt and black pepper in the pan. As a saucy side, she went with tomato and chickpea salad. She didn’t bother to peel the tomatoes and since she wanted a fair bit of liquid she didn’t remove the seeds either.

Not very haute cuisine but nobody was there to frown at her in french or any other language.

Into tomatoes goes chopped red onions, crushed garlic, chopped cilantro, lemon juice and olive oil. Salt and black pepper to taste.

When all tastes are to taste, dump in drained chick peas. Mrs J has no problem using canned chickpeas, as long as they are well rinsed and drained.

Just add seared tuna steaks and serve with an extra wedge of lemon.

Bon appétit…
