It would probably have been a good idea to make some apple pie today, considering Mrs J has been redecorating again. But Mrs J got stuck painting instead. To Mr J’s relief, she started small. The living room is safe. For now.
This candlestick was part of the stuff Mrs J brought back from Scandoland. It was beyond shabby-chic, though.
But Mrs J still liked the shape, plus she’s fairly certain it’s made in the foundry that was run by Mrs J’s grandparents. So it has nostalgic value.
A lot of the pieces from the foundry were hand painted. Mrs J’s grandma has been known to paint some herself. Next year, maybe y’all will get to see a picture of the Metal Santa Army that now decorates Mrs B’s mantlepiece every Christmas.
By the way, wouldn’t that be a great name for a hard rock band? Metal Santa Army. Ok, will get back on track now. Sorry.
It’s highly doubtful that this particular piece was hand painted. Until now. Because Mrs J decided to paint it.
Here we are in mid project. Mrs J used a black metal paint that’s supposed to give it a kind of hammered look.
Another Scando getting hammered… Ba dam bam! Yep, we’ll be here all week folks!
Mrs J is quite proud of the finished piece. It’s going to find a spot somewhere.
And there’s still more paint left! Hmmm…. what’s next ….
