Actually, Mrs J has no intention of popping any pearls of wisdom. It’s just that she’s been observing a few things happening. All having to do with projects.
Her first observation is, she seems to have a need to start projects. Many projects. She feels happy starting projects. She’s even enthusiastic working on them. After all, it’s stuff she chooses to do, on her own initiative. And she’s even happier telling people about projects.
But then something happens. The project seems to go on. Or is delayed, for any variety of reasons. As a consequence lots of projects are accumulating all over her house and general existence. One of Mrs J’s friends would call this accumulation of projects clutter.
What’s so odd about this is that Mrs J has always been known (and in a way accepted herself to be) a “completer”. A “worker” rather than an ideas person. Or you may go ahead and just say she’s been obsessed with getting stuff finished, done and put away in the proper place. Go on, Mrs J won’t mind.
So what’s going on here? Is this a sign? Are these Mrs J’s true colors? Now that she’s free to do as she likes, is she actually turning out to be one of those people that she so often silently cursed during her corporate days? You know the ones – flying in, dumping the grand idea without the slightest whiff of a plan how to implement it and flying off again. Leaving the implementation to – you got it – the “finisher”.
Of course, Mrs J doesn’t have any other finisher at hand to finish anything for her.
Hence the clutter.
Eventually she’ll finish. In fact some things are getting finished.
She is, however, determined to enjoy the finishing like never before. If it takes a bit longer, so be it.
