In a sense every day is a holiday for Mrs J since she left the “musts” of a regular office job. But there is still such a thing as a vacation, meaning a change of scenery and routine. That’s what’s going on right now.

Mrs J is enjoying her trip immensely. This, however, isn’t a holiday exposé.

Not that there’s anything wrong with holiday exposés. Right now though, sitting on the 36th floor of a hotel building as a thunderstorm passes by the window, Mrs J wants to talk about special relationships. With stuff.

Mrs J has a special relationship with several things. Flying is probably the best example. Mrs J is an experienced flyer and looks forward to flying right up to the point where the aircraft leaves the ground. Then she starts praying. She usually spends the entire flight in a state of terror-speckled excitement. Flying is a lot of fun, in a bizarre kind of way. A terrific experience, let’s say. Sleep on the plane though? Not happening any time soon.

Incidentally, on her way over from Europe this time she had the opportunity to fly at the front of a big Boeing and then seeing the nose of a similar plane at the Smithsonian Air and Space museum. Disconcertingly, you actually sit below and in front of the cockpit. Yikes.

Moving swiftly along, Mrs J also has a special relationship with heights, caves, thunderstorms, cruise ships and needles. Just to mention a few of the more special ones. Because of course some are more terrific than others. As mentioned, right now she’s sitting on the 36th floor of a high rise. Corner room. Windows. Great view. Of the thunderstorm. Oh, and there’s an acupuncture clinic in the basement. Kid you not.

Vacations are great for changing things up. Get out of a routine. See new things that inspire. Be challenged. And mixed in with the fun and excitement, perhaps work on some of those special relationships.

Mrs J is going to google the nearest cave diving site now. And then she’s booking a cruise.

Kidding.
