Let’s agree right now. As a food item, not all apples are born equal.
Which is not to say that they are not all unique. And have a culinary place and purpose.
Which is not to say that other fruits are bad. Just different.
Mr J, for example, has kiwi fruit for breakfast. One a day keeps scurvy at bay for him. Har har.
Mrs J finds bananas very useful. They put the smooth in smoothies. They’re much better for quick energy as well as being easier on the tummy than other fruit, which is great especially during sports.
In terms of apples, you need something sweet but sturdy to make desserts, crumbles and pies where the apple is cooked. Those kinds of apples can indeed be very useful, in more ways than one.
But if you ask Mrs J which apple she’d most like to eat just the way it is, it has to be a lady.
