Technically, this isn’t a cooking post. But it is a technical cooking post, sort of, since it features a gadget.
Meet Mrs J’s juicer.
Mrs J’s juicer was bought quite some time ago. It was the subject of much heckling by Mr J. Mainly due to the substantial layer of dust that formed on it before it was ever used.
But Mrs J figures that guys in general, and Mr J in particular, should tread carefully when it comes to heckling people for having too many sparingly used gadgets. Furthermore, she thinks women in general should not think of gadgets as being just guy things. And if she chooses her gadgets to be cooking gadgets, doesn’t everyone benefit?
Of course they do.
Fresh juice can help you chase away the winter blues, if you have them. Lots of vitamins and cheerful colour. What could be better? If you’re not looking to make apple crumble at the moment, it’s also a good alternative way to use up fruit like apples that have gone a little too soft.
Mrs J does recommend the combo Juicer+Dishwasher. In most juicers there are an awful lot of pieces that need to be cleaned. So if you’re thinking of getting a juicer, make sure as many of those parts as possible are dishwasher safe. And don’t delay putting them in the dishwasher – once the refuse fiber has dried it’s a real challenge to remove!
Mrs J’s juicer is currently doing overtime. Carrot juice, apple juice, orange juice… Kiwi juice may or may not be next, depending on if Mr J is snowed in on his current business trip. Today it was a combo of orange and apple. Why not experiment with your own multi fruit combination?
So now it’s obviously time to buy the next gadget. Probably an ice-cream machine.
Bet you Mr J won’t mind that.
