Actually, Mrs J (with the help of Mr J) finished off the pie fairly soon after the guests were gone. But since Mrs J was quite lazy yesterday and spent most of today in the hospital for a yearly check-up waiting for (what at least felt like) several hours, a little weekend recap seems like the ticket.

According to Mrs J’s experience, this is what all media do – save something nice for the slow days.

Except they don’t tell you they’re doing it while they’re doing it.

This is all going horribly wrong, isn’t it…

Anyway! Let’s have some pie!

The lemon filling .... the egg yoke is key both for consistency and colour. Works beautifully.

Doh!

Homer - doh? Colour of Homer Simp.... oh, never mind then.

It's not food-porn, but it's pretty close, isn't it?

A touch of gold...

A touch of cat...

Mrs J would like to point out that no guest ever touched anything the cat touched. And the cat was severely punished. Shrimp was involved.

All in all, that pie was a hit. It’s a classic and it did the job.

The main course was an Indian fish dish, which turned out pretty well. It was a quick cook. Mrs J has come to realize, even more than before, that taking pictures, cooking AND entertaining guests require multitasking skills that she has yet to develop. She will be working on that.

She did however have some time to take a picture of the olive oils that were the stars of the oil-tasting (which replaced the first course). To be recommended, it was a lot of fun!
