Behind the little house hides a secret….
Mrs J is very fond of these black beauties. When Mrs J grew up, there were a couple of bushes in the garden that she could pass on her way in back from school.
Today, she picked about a liter and probably dropped another liter on the ground. That’s how ripe these babies are. Falling off the vine ripe.
So, Mrs J decided to make a pan-cake. Mrs B lent her the kitchen for the evening (Mr and Mrs B were invited for dinner with friends).
Mrs J has set fire to Mrs B’s kitchen in the past.
Yes, that’s Fire as in full on screaming fire-alarm, smoke filled hallways, throw the flaming pot out the window fire.
But that was a long time ago. She’s much older and wiser now.
At least, that’s the theory.
So, we start with whipping up some eggs and some sugar. Add milk and melted butter.
Then mix flour, baking powder and crushed cardamom.
This smells divine. Mrs J has visions of Christmas and little old ladies making sugar buns and seven different biscuits.
Kitchen Equipment with a big E. Very satisfying. Until your back gives out on you.
Mix everything together. Add half of the berries and stir carefully. Pour into breaded pan.
Add the rest of the berries on top, making sure the share of berries is fairly even in the pan.
Bake for about 15 min until light and golden.
Mrs J figures you could probably cut the cake in squares and eat it plain like this. Maybe with some whipped cream or vanilla ice-cream as a dessert. But today she wanted to do it as a coffee cake. So she went ahead and made a glaze.
This is desiccated coconut, sugar and a bit of cream and flour.
Add copious amounts of butter, stir and simmer for a minute.
Spread on cake and bake for another 10 minutes until golden again.
Let cool (as much as your character lets you), cut in squares and eat a couple on the spot.
P.S. Mrs B got her kitchen back in one piece. This time.

I miss you in the kitchen!
Sounds (reads) and looks yummmie. You can come by my house anytimg to make this for me and the boys…
