Let’s start from the beginning.

A couple of years ago while Mrs J was still working in marketing, her colleagues were all of different nationalities. In particular, she was spending a lot of time with French, British (i.e. English, Scottish and Welsh), Irish and Italian people. Actually working with them, was kind of like this.

Mrs J was the one figuratively being elbowed in the face, most of the time.

Anywho.

Mrs J has always enjoyed sports. She now enjoys practicing sports as well as watching sports on TV. It only took her 30-odd years to discover the benefits of getting off the couch herself.

She knows that’s pretty pathetic.

Though for those of you sniggering right now, she would tell you to shaddap and get your trainers on. For your own good, people! And let’s talk when you’ve done your first 10k race, a’right?

Mrs J is in better shape today than when she was 17. Which may not be saying much considering her shape at 17, but never mind.

Anyway, circumstances conspired to get Mrs J interested in Rugby. Rugby Union, to be precise. While she’s never played, nor has any intention of ever attempting to do so, she found herself watching some games on TV.

The first question she had was, why, oh why, would you want to use a white uniform in this game?

White uniforms are nice. White uniforms are sexy. Let’s face it, what would Top Gun have been without the white uniforms?

Sorry, Tom, but you’d probably not be making the money you’re making today.

There are many professions where a white uniform makes sense. Medicine, for instance.

The white uniform reassures the patient that you’re clean and also helps you notice anything that isn’t so you can change/burn that piece of clothing before seeing the next patient.

Cooking makes sense, too, for the same reasons. Come to think of it, yikes!

But why, oh why, would you use a white uniform when you know you’ll be doing something like this?

Mrs J doesn’t get it, and probably never will.

And still she got up at 6:30 in the morning two days in a row to watch the Rugby World Cup from New Zealand.

Go figure.
