Today is Lucia, an important traditional day for Mrs J.
Every year while Mrs J was working in a corporate environment, Mrs J baked and offered the traditional “Lussebulle” to her colleagues on this day.
Some liked them, some didn’t. Some commented, some didn’t. One long-term colleague decided to rename the whole holiday St Candlehead. It makes sense, but doesn’t quite tick all the boxes for Mrs J.
In any case, the traditional saffron buns are at the top end of the foods that Mrs J have maintained making as an expat.
This is the first Lucia for a long time that Mrs J isn’t making “Lussebullar”. It’s all Mrs B’s stuff this year. And to tell the truth, it feels kind of strange!
At the same time it was really enjoyable to get up early and just dig in to the Lussebullar and the gingerbread while watching the traditional procession and performances.
That’s the stuff!
Want to comment about the garbs, the candles, the hats? Mrs J is ready to hear it. By now those comments are kind of part of her tradition!

Alright, I’ll start. Those buns look like the hairdo from Princess Leia 🙂 Bet you never heard that one before 🙂
Have a great holiday!
It’s an oldie – but a goodie!
