It may not be summer where you are, but it is certainly summer in the south of France.  Mrs J is enjoying the beach, which is delightfully empty of tourists. Off season is the best season, if you ask Mrs J.

But there was something wrong, on the beach. Mrs J spent at least half an hour trying to work out what it was that was bothering her.

It wasn’t the sun, which was shining.

It wasn’t the feel of the sand between her toes.

It wasn’t the ….

…whatever that is. A turquoise land-octopus?

She finally figured it out. There was something missing. Five monopoly bucks to anyone who works out what it is. Here’s a video clue:

Got it?

No?

It was the sound of seagulls.

Obviously.

Mrs J figures they were all down in the docks feasting on the remains of the catch of the day.

They’ll no doubt be back. Thank goodness. No summer without seagulls.
